Joe Ganzelli is a drummer and percussionist in the Washington D.C area and performs with the United States Navy Band Cruisers, the premier popular music ensemble of the Navy. He is also a frequent performer with the multiple award winning Bachelor Boys Band. He has also served as a drummer and percussionist with the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West in Northern California. With the Air Force Band, he was a featured soloist in jazz, concert, and popular music ensembles. In addition, he deployed for four months entertaining troops and strengthening diplomatic ties through music in Southwest Asia.
Before joining the military, Joe Ganzelli was part of the IAAPA award-winning “found sound” percussion group “Cocoa Rhythm Factory” in 2012 and 2013, as well as the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps and United Percussion indoor ensemble in 2011. While living in the San Francisco Bay Area and Philadelphia, he shared the stage with members of Prince, Randy Brecker, Bobby Shew, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, and members of both the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Philly Pops, among others.
A native of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, Ganzelli received a dual Bachelor of Music in Education and Percussion performance from West Chester University of Pennsylvania in 2015. His primary teachers include Christopher Hanning, Ralph Sorrentino, and Marc Jacoby, and he has had continued studies with Tommy Igoe, Ari Hoenig, and Rich Redmond.
