A Snare Drum for any situation
We love snare drums and make lots of them. We take pride in our ability to make everything from high quality “go to” snare, stave, and solid shells to our innovative R.A.D. Series snare drums. Our ply shell snare drums feature the same 100% choice North American hardwoods as our kits. All of our steam bent and stave drums are carefully crafted in house from the best hand selected timber.
Steam Bent Snare Drums
- Shell
- All Brooks solid steam bent snare drums start with premium selected woods such as maple, walnut, cherry, oak, ash, mahogany, and other exotic woods from around the world. Our drums are designed and built from start to finish at the Brooks shop in Brentwood, California. Brooks steam bent solid snare drums are available in 12″,13″,14″ and 15″ and depths to 8″. We use Trick 007 multi position throwoffs on our snare drums, as they are the smoothest and most reliable throwoffs in the industry. We also use machined solid brass tube lugs and heavy 3mm triple flanged hoops.
- Finish
- Available in a wide variety of finishes from Brooks drum custom blended classic hand rubbed oil, which provides great durability while not affecting the resonance of the shell. All the way to a custom stain or paint with a High gloss polyester based clear coat finish polished to perfection.
- Hardware
- All machined solid brass tube lugs. 3mm triple flanged hoops. 3 positions Trick throw off. All in highly polished chrome plating and proudly fitted with Evans drum heads
Radial Acoustic Dispersion (R.A.D.)
- Shell
- 14” x 5-¼” and 14” x 6-¼” Maple shell
- Finish
- Available in Black stain or Natural Maple stained, beautiful hand rubbed oil finish that is a Brooks drum custom blend. Provides maximum durability while not affecting the resonance of the shell itself.
- Hardware
- All brass tube lugs. 3mm triple flanged hoops. 3 positions Trick throw off.
- All fitted with Evans drum heads
This snare really shines in the studio, engineers love them. Not only because it sounds so good but, the design of the R.A.D. Series allowed for additional mic placement options.
Stave Snare Drum
- Shell
- Every stave shell is made from a single handpicked board in our shop. Stave drums are constructed similar to a conga drum; pieces of wood are precisely machined and glued together to form a circle. The shell is then carefully machined perfectly round inside and outside on a lathe. These snare drums have wonderful tonal character and produce an openly focused sound with great projection at all volumes. Brooks Stave shells have a wide tuning range with a nice stick response; they just feel great to play.

- Available in a wide variety of stained colors to the classic Natural finish, and beautiful hand rubbed oil finish that is a Brooks drum custom blend. Provides maximum durability while not affecting the resonance of the shell itself
- Hardware
- All brass tube lugs. 3mm triple flanged hoops. 3 positions Trick throw off. All fitted with Evans drum heads
Staves are constructed with the grain orientated vertically to the diameter, making it a more efficient transfer of energy. They are very sensitive and are beautiful drums for playing brushes and yet still have the ability to cut through loud music easily.
Ply Series Snare Drums
- Shell
- We take pride in the response and adaptability of these snare drums. Each snare starts with maple or birch shells made from 100% choice North American hardwoods. These snares are real workhorse snares. The maple drums have a wide tuning range that can fulfill the need to be snappy, swampy, or a solid crack that will ping. Birch wood differs from maple giving the drum a more focused attack. The warmth of the articulation and invite sensitivity cannot be overstated with either choice.

- Available in a wide variety of stained colors to the classic Natural finish, beautiful hand rubbed oil finish that is a Brooks drum custom blend that provides maximum durability while not affecting the resonance of the shell.
- Hardware
- All brass tube lugs. 3mm triple flanged hoops. 3 positions Trick throw off.
- All fitted with Evans drum heads
These snares have a wide range of possibilities, They have ply options from 7 to 15 plies and range in thickness from ¼” to ½” and the option of 8 or 10 lugs and die-cast hoops.
